Abstract
The EU promotes privacy through the GDPR and ethics through the AI Act. Yet, at the same time, it is pushing for Chat Control and the HLG recommendations, paving the way for the surveillance of conversations we currently consider private. This accessible, non-technical talk compares these contradictory policies. Are we truly strengthening digital rights, or are we building a European Big Brother?
